Bahia de Kino fotos

Information on Kino Bay (Bahia de Kino)

Kino Bay is an easy 230 mile drive from the U.S. border in Nogales, Arizona.  It's 60 miles west of the metropolitan city of Hermosillo which is the capital of Sonora, Mexico. Upon arriving in this unassuming fishing village, you'll discover a solitude in this oasis where the desert meets the sea. Bahia Kino is Spanish for Kino Bay and is named after Padre Kino.

Bask in the sun.  Play in the sand and on  the beach.  Search for seashells.  Fish from the beach or by boat.  Bird watch. Swim.  Dig for clams.  Jump on a jet ski. Take a deep sea fishing expedition or simply relax on a boat ride.  Hone your bargaining skills and have fun haggling with local vendors for Mexican crafts. Enjoy spectacular sunsets from your balcony.

Kino's local restaurants serve fresh sea- food year round as well as American favorites.  Local musicians entertain with traditional Mexican songs.  Leave behind the stress, the hustle, the crowds and join us in Kino!
According to history, during the 17th century, the famous Jesuit missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino, was in the area of the bay which today is called after him and made the first colonization efforts.
In the early 1930’s adventurers built trails between Hermosillo and areas close to the ocean and thus the town of Old Kino or Kino Viejo was established.
Kino Bay is located in the middle of the Sonoran coastline, 100 kilometers from Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora, where it is considered the city’s natural beach.
Since quite long ago, Kino Bay has been the favorite rest and recreation site for people from Hermosillo and foreign tourists, who find that this place is different, because it is still possible to enjoy a peaceful and calm environment on the sea shore, enjoying comfort. Almost all year round, the ocean is temperate, which enables visitors to enjoy it during any season, just like the famous Italian missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino did so long ago.
ese are ready for occupancy.

  • Home to the Seri Indians, you'll find their popular wood carvings of animals and 'torote' baskets woven from trees in this area. Just off the shore is Tiburon Island. "Shark Island" is the original home of the Seri's; today it's a beautiful wildlife preserve. An airstrip is located in Kino Bay as well, so fly in if you like!
  • Hermosillo: This city was originally named Real Presidio de San Pedro de la Conquista... "Hermosillo" just seemed to sound better! Hermosillo brings modern and ancient architecture together in a beautiful metropolitan setting. Visitors from the US will find this city quite familiar with its many well-known US franchises - Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Jack in the Box, etc.
  • The Sea of Cortez: Like to fish? How does 42 fish in 2 1/2 hours time, casting right from the shore sound? The Sea of Cortez has beautifully clear blue water, ideal for fishing or boating, swimming, or sailing -- you name it. The fish and sea life are wonderful for snorkelers to check out, and the large, warm beaches are perfect for the kids. Just three quarters of a mile away from Dos Palmas

Without doubt, Kino Bay's principal attractions are the beautiful beach and clear blue waters that offer a touch of tranquility and the opportunity for sport fishing and scuba diving.
